The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery has a strong commitment to research. Our faculty members are involved in clinical trials and studies, as well as basic-science research. We are also involved in several collaborative research projects with scientists affiliated with the Ottawa Health Research Institute (OHRI) and with the National Research Council.
To assist in our research, the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery has a fully functional biomechanical testing lab, with a modern materials testing machine, and is staffed by a full-time engineer. Faculty and residents also have access to a fully staffed histology laboratory. In addition, there are five full-time orthopaedic research assistants providing a combination of skills: nurse, data processing, statistical analysis and research-publication assistance.
