Fellowship Education

Program Overview

The Department of Psychiatry offers various Fellowships in a range of specialties, including Forensics, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Addictions, Eating Disorders, Youth, Geriatric Psychiatry and Schizophrenia.

Research Fellowships are also available through the Institute for Mental Health Research. Application for a position at any given time is subject to the availability of a Supervisor in a given discipline. It is important to note that the Fellowships are initiated and designed according to the applicant's goals. Fellowships may be either clinical or research based, or involve a combination of both clinical and research work.

How to Apply

Applicants are invited to submit the application form along with all listed required documents. The applicant's attached statement of Fellowship Goals is then sent to the Clinical Director of the relevant program and a preliminary decision is made regarding the viability of the proposed fellowship and a potential supervisor is determined. The applicant is then invited for an interview with the potential supervisor in order to discuss and define in greater detail the nature of the Fellowship. Once a Fellowship program is agreed upon by the applicant and supervisor, the completed documentation is forwarded to the Departmental committee and then the Faculty of Medicine for approval.

Foreign Applicants

All foreign Applicants, from outside Canada who do not have Canadian citizenship must provide official documented proof of funding from either a University, hospital, government or recognized funding agency.
