Continuing Professional Development - Faculty Development
Faculty Development has taken flight this past year and as the inaugural Director for this new portfolio I am extremely pleased with the progress we have made. My role is to facilitate the knowledge transfer for professional and personal growth to our departmental membership. In this respect, our Office is modestly building its repertoire of small group learning sessions and workshops.
In our Promotions Series, we help demystify the promotion process by providing three sessions that delve specifically on the best way to approach the preparation and completion of a solid promotion dossier. As well, mentors are available to guide those members who decide to take their file forward.
In our Teaching Skills Series, we offer an array of interactive workshops to help members develop and enhance the skills that offer the best possible outcome in the supervision of medical students and/or residents as well as how to put together a presentation that will engage medical students and/or residents.
We are in the planning stages of another series, Foundation for Career Development Series, which will stress the combined elements of personal and professional growth as it relates to career enhancement.
If you have ideas to share and/or have attended a session on personal or professional development that you feel would assist our membership please do not hesitate to contact me.
