Child Psychiatrist for Chronic Pain Program

Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is seeking a psychiatrist to join CHEO's new multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Program, specializing in treatment of pediatric chronic pain. A full-time position split between the new Chronic Pain Program (.5 FTE) and the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison (CL) Service (.5 FTE), work on both services involves inpatient CL work and outpatient care. The Chronic Pain Program is staffed by a pain physician, two psychologists, three physiotherapists, two nurses, an occupational therapist, a social worker, and a pharmacist. The CL Service is staffed by psychiatrists and psychologists.

Psychiatrists are paid through a full alternative funding plan (AFP) and remuneration ranges from $255,000-$330,000, depending on academic rank and annual productivity. The successful candidate will have had training and/or experience in the management of chronic pain and consultation-liaison psychiatry. Sub-specialty training or a significant amount of experience in child psychiatry, eligibility for academic appointment at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, and eligibility for specialist licensure in Psychiatry with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario are required. Successful candidates will have experience or additional training in Pediatric Pain Management. Psychiatrists at any stage of their careers are encouraged to apply. Bilingualism in English and French is advantageous.

The Department of Psychiatry at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is recruiting for Child Psychiatrists to join a faculty on the cutting edge of mental health service delivery innovation. Psychiatrists are paid through a full alternative funding plan (AFP) and remuneration ranges from $255,000-$330,000, depending on academic rank and annual productivity. Jobs are available in the following clinical areas:

  • Consultation-Liaison (CL) Service
  • Ambulatory Care Service
  • Dual Diagnosis Clinic (intellectual disability + psychiatric disorders)

Requirements for every position are sub-specialty training or a significant amount of experience in child psychiatry, eligibility for academic appointment at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, eligibility for specialist licensure in Psychiatry with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Successful candidates will have experience or additional training in CL, ambulatory care, or treating the Dual Diagnosis population. Psychiatrists at any stage of their careers are encouraged to apply. Leadership roles are available for the qualified applicant. Bilingualism in English and French is advantageous.
