Welcome
Our impending accreditation visit will occur March 28-31, 2010. There are various stages of the accreditation process:
- Preparation of an extensive database regarding curriculum, policies, and practices of the medical school
- An Institutional Self-study (ISS) to assess the current status of operations, and to recommend ways of improving
- Visit of an accreditation team, and preparation of their report
- Delivery of the decision of the LCME/CACMS after consideration of the accreditation team’s report
Seven subcommittees were formed to prepare reports on different components of the ISS report, and about 100 faculty, students, and residents were members of these committees. We would like to thank profusely all members of the Task Force and Subcommittees for their dedication and for their contribution to the reports that were the basis for the ISS report.
The subcommittees were as follows:- Institutional Setting: Governance and Administration
- Institutional Setting: Academic Environment
- Educational Program: Curriculum management
- Educational Program: Evaluation
- Medical Students
- Faculty
- Educational Resources
The individual reports were reviewed and summarized by the ISS Task Force, and the resulting document was submitted in January as part of the accreditation documentation, along with the database.
Another part of the documentation submitted was the report on the survey of medical students and the graphical analysis of the survey results conducted in April of 2009.
