The Information Management Services is responsible for the purchasing of all IT-related equipment for the Faculty of Medicine support staff as well as its' academic leaders. We provide consulting services for all other members of the faculty wishing to purchase computers or IT equipment.
Supported vs. Non-Supported Computers
All non-standard Dell (not available on the University's Dell Premier site) or other manufacturer's computers will be labeled with an unsupported sticker. Note that some unsupported computers are not eligible for the University's licensed software such as Microsoft Windows or Office. Please contact us for more information or to request a consult prior to purchasing non-standard equipment.
Support Staff Computers
All regular support staff computers are typically replaced on a 3 to 4 year cycle. On a case by case basis, we will evaluate the need to replace all computers over 3 to 4 years old and in some circumstances, the decision to upgrade instead of replace the computer will be made.
APUO Member's Computers
The Faculty of Medicine will upgrade computers for APUO members who function in an academic leadership capacity ( Vice-Deans, Directors, Assistant Directors, Division Heads) every 3 to 4 years.
Infrastructure Equipment (Servers/Storage)
We offer consulting services for faculty personnel looking to purchase infrastructure (servers and storage) equipment for research purposes. We also offer an advanced data storage infrastructure for all research principal investigators and their groups that is competitively priced.
