The Faculty of Medicine has a wireless networks which provides our students with wireless Internet access everywhere in the Roger Guindon Hall
Getting Started
To Access the Wireless Network
To access the wireless network you must have a wireless network card and configure your computer to connect via WPA. There are different settings depending on your computer (PC or Mac) and your operating system. For a description of the configuration you can click the link below.
- you must be either a registered student or an employee of the University of Ottawa
- you need an InfoWeb account
- you need a laptop or notebook computer that has a WiFi/802.11b compliant Network Interface Card with the appropriate drivers installed.
Note: Laptops purchased via MedTech are compliant.
How to access the Internet via the wireless network
Pc Users: Right Click on the Wireless Network Connection icon in the system tray located in the lower right side of your screen
Mac Users: Open the Airport dialog box under system preferences…
- View Available Wireless Networks
- Click on WPA-uOttawa from the list of available wireless networks and then click on connect
- The username is your student number and the password is the same as infoweb ( all letters must be in uppercase)
- You now have internet access over the wireless network
Troubleshooting

Report all signal and bandwidth issues to MedTech. They will advise you if the issue might include settings on your laptop, or will work to investigate the situation and make sure the access points are working properly.

- Your location
- The date(s) and time(s) you experienced the problem
- Estimated number of other users in your area
- What task you were attempting to perform
- What symptoms you experienced (no signal, etc.)
