Dr. David Mack appointed Acting University Chair and Chief of Department of Paediatrics

The Dean of Medicine, Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, the CHEO Chief of Staff, Dr. Carrol Pitters, and the CHEO President and CEO, Michel Bilodeau, are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Mack as the Acting Chair of the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Ottawa and Chief of the Department of Paediatrics at CHEO.
Dr. Mack completed medical school training at the University of Toronto, split his Pediatric Residency between CHEO in Ottawa and Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and followed on with his Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship training at the Hospital for Sick Children. Following Fellowship training, Dr Mack was appointed to faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a cross appointment to Creighton University School of Medicine and was active in studying intestinal inflammation, microbial-intestinal epithelial cell interactions and their innate protective mechanisms. Dr. Mack returned to Canada in 2001 where he is currently the Head of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is a senior Investigator at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute with current research focusing on pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases.
He will start on October 1st, 2010.
