Jeanette Ward, MBBS, MHPEd, PhD, FAFPHM
Jeanette Ward received her bachelor degrees in medicine and surgery at the University of Sydney, was awarded a Masters in Health Personnel Education from the University of NSW and completed her PhD in behavioural sciences at the University of Newcastle (Australia). Her specialisation in population health is recognised in her Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM). Jeanette has a longstanding commitment to rigorous science, not only as a recognized research leader but also as an experienced decision-maker who understands first-hand the value of sound evidence in planning and implementing effective health services. In 2011, Jeanette was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Health Service Management (FACHSM). Jeanette has published over 180 full-length peer-reviewed research articles in diverse topics such as cervical screening, tobacco control, knowledge transfer, risk communication, clinical outcomes and gender bias. Her association with the University of Ottawa commenced in 2005 as Professor in Epidemiology & Community Health and has continued upon her return in 2008 to Australia where she focuses on implementation and health system impact. She is currently working in an executive role with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, an iconic not-for-profit organization in Australia that delivers comprehensive rural and remote healthcare. Jeanette retains links with health leadership organisations in Canada and maintains international academic collaborations with the goal of developing global capacity for evidence-based policy and practice.
