Biography

Larry W. Chambers, PhD, is the President and Chief Scientist of the Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute, a partnership of the University of Ottawa and the SCO Health Service and V.P. Research at the SCO Health Service in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, and the School of Nursing, the University of Ottawa. His research, education, consultation, and administrative responsibilities focus on epidemiology and program evaluation issues related to healthy aging, community health, and local-level health policy development. Professor Chambers' recent research includes studies of cardiovascular health awareness funded by the Canadian Stroke Network and the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and interprofessional patient-centred collaborative health care funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.

He is also one of the founders of the Ontario Seniors' Health Research Transfer Network that brings together researchers, caregivers and policy makers in long-term and community care. Professor Chambers is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology and Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, United Kingdom.
