Constitution of the Epidemiology and Community Medicine
Graduate Students Association

Name of the Association

The students of the department of epidemiology and community medicine, within the faculty of medicine at the University of Ottawa , hereby form a graduate students association called the Epidemiology and Community Medicine Graduate Students Association (ECMGSA).

 

Aims of the ECMGSA

To allow for the exchange of academic and social ideas

  • To organize and establish social, sports, and academic activities
  • To provide a forum for discussion of problems had by any graduate student in the Epidemiology and Community Medicine department and assist in taking these problems to the appropriate agency when necessary
  • To provide students with a voice to represent them in departmental decisions and discussions
  • To represent the Epidemiology and Community Medicine department at meetings of the University of Ottawa 's Graduate Student Association (GSAED)

 

Positions of the ECMGSA

GSAED REPRESENTATIVE – ERIN RUSSELL

The duties of the GSAED representative shall be:

  • Represent the department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the GSAED meetings (held monthly)
  • Report any decisions made by GSAED that affect the student body
  • Collect the bi-annual cheques given to the committee by GSAED (to be given to the treasurer for deposit)
  • Represent the association in relations with the University of Ottawa and any external bodies
  • Active participation in the planning of any social, sports, or academic activities

DEPARTMENTAL REPRESENTATIVE(S) – JENNA WONG & MARYAM KHAN

The duties of the departmental representative(s) shall be:

  • Represent the ECMGSA at monthly meetings of the department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine
  • Report any decisions made by the department that affect the student body
  • Active participation in the planning of any social, sports, or academic activities

TREASURER – KATE SMITH

The duties of the departmental representative(s) shall be:

  • Collection and dispensation of all monies and receipts in accordance with the financial policies of the association, including the depositing and withdrawing of all monies from banks provided that cheques are co-signed by another member of the ECMGSA
  • To provide updated financial statements for the association at the end of every academic term
  • Active participation in the planning of any social, sports, or academic activities

All three positions shall work together to ensure that the ECMGSA is represented at every meeting that concerns the student body. Therefore, if one of the positions is unable to attend their designated meeting, it is the duty of the other two positions to take his or her place.
