Department of Innovation in Medical Education
The Department of Innovation in Medical Education (DIME) is a new non-clinical department in the Faculty of Medicine that will offer teaching, research and scholarship in the area of medical education. DIME will promote innovation and advances in medical education scholarship, as well as enable and evaluate breakthrough advances across the medical education continuum, including but not limited to the following domains:
- Division of Clinical and Functional Anatomy;
- Medical Education: Assessment, eLearning, Simulation and Continuing Professional Development;
- Medicine and Humanities (115 KB).
DIME will become the University of Ottawa’s primary resource for expertise in medical education research. Its mandate is to support education and educational scholarship in clinical medicine locally, nationally and internationally. In addition to conducting research in medical education, DIME will disseminate best practices and innovations in medical education, and support scholarship in teaching, integration and application.
DIME will support and promote the “Centre d’appui en santé pour la francophonie- CAPSAF” and the well-known AIME programs, such as AIME fellowships, AIME grants, AIME Day and the Healthcare Education Scholars Program (HESP), in order to enhance collaboration and provide support to medical educators at all levels in the clinical and basic science departments. Its Research Core will be a gateway for expertise to enhance research intensity in medical education.
