Clinical history: This is a 63 year old woman with a 10 year history of shortness of breath on exertion, which had recently become worse. She is an ex-smoker, with a 35 pack-year history, having quit 10 years ago. Family history reveals that her mother had colon cancer.
She had a chest x-ray that showed a lesion in the right lung. This prompted a CT scan, which confirmed the presence of a 1.9 x 2.3 cm nodule in the right lower lobe, which was subsequently biopsied (FNAB).
