Learning activities initiated by individual physicians to address a question, problem or increase awareness of new evidence, perspectives or findings that will be relevant to their professional practice

Educational research indicates that adults “Learn best when responsible for planning/conducting their own educational activities” (Kaufman 2003)

Both RCPSC and CFPC have created more options for you to obtain credits through self developed activities

Planned Activities
Address an identified personal or collective practice need
eg. Personal learning projects

Scanning, Searching Activities
Increase awareness of new perspectives or evidence relevant to your professional practice such as  Journal reading, Cardio Clips, Up to Date, and  Info Poems

Systems Learning Projects
Opportunities that stimulate learning through engaging in activities designed to contribute to the quality of health systems (eg. Practice guidelines, patient safety, quality of care), educational systems (curriculum development) or assessment systems

Planned Activities
Address an identified personal or collective practice need  eg. Linking learning to practice

Scanning, Searching Activities
Increase awareness of new perspectives or evidence relevant to your professional practice such as  Journal reading, Up-to-date ,and  Info Poems
