Postgraduate Fellowship Training: What types of Fellowship does Ottawa offer?

Research Fellowships

  • The following fellowships usually require both a clinical and research supervisor (e.g. lab scientist, clinician-scientist, clinician-educator)
    • Translational Research
    • Clinical Research
    • Education Research
    • Cardiac Oncology
  • Usually disease site specific

  • Clinical duties are typically 20-40% of your workload (2-3 half-day clinics per week)

Clinical Fellowships

  • For those wanting to obtain a higher level of clinical exposure in general oncology or specific disease site.

  • Clinical duties are typically 60-80% of your workload (5-7 half day clinics per week).

  • Also involves teaching, academic and research activities of their primary discipline as assigned by their primary supervisor.

Please note: research or clinical fellowships do not lead to eligibility for certification for medical oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Degree programs (MSc/PhD)

  • Fellows may wish to pursue a higher degree during their time in Ottawa and accommodations can be made to facilitate.

  • Fellows will be expected to follow the requirements of the specific University program for lectures, research, thesis production and the number of clinics attended each week. For more information, please consult: Graduate Studies Programs
