Dr. Jacques Bradwejn is pleased to announce the launch of the Proteomics and Systems Biology joint laboratory between the University of Ottawa (uO), the uO Faculty of Medicine (FoM) and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP).
This exciting new partnership significantly strengthens the international camaraderie between both parties and offers their respective medical researchers, students and physicians the opportunity to diversify the scope of their research pursuits. The FoM-DICP laboratory will explore the development and application of proteomics and systems biology for the study and treatment of human diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.
Established in 1949, the DICP has a longstanding history of success and international repute in research and continues to play a vital role in China’s quest for excellence in the fields of education, science and technology. It is the Chinese government’s recent allocations to these fields that have made remarkable opportunities for international collaboration possible.
“Establishing joint research laboratories and institutes with our Chinese counterparts will benefit both sides,” said Dr. Yao. “uOttawa must take this opportunity to strategically position ourselves in developing long-term partnerships with China, and I believe our visit represented a healthy and promising first step towards this goal.”
