uOttawa Family Medicine Head to outline proactive solutions for improving access to family physicians

Family PhysicianOttawa, 6 March, 2008 - Dr. Jacques Lemelin, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa will be presenting “Providing our Communities with Better Health Care Services”, outlining how the Ottawa region is being organized to respond to the need to increase the number of Family Medicine Doctors.

Dr. Lemelin will be outlining proactive solutions to improve access to family physicians, lower health care costs and, most importantly, improve care.

Dr. Lemelin is a long time family physician, and one who has constantly been researching better ways to provide service.

About the Department of Family Medicine

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa has a long and strong tradition in the areas of clinical care, education and research. Supported by 19 full-time faculty and 262 of voluntary part-time teachers, the Department has an exceptionally strong postgraduate program that includes opportunities for residents to train in Northern Ontario (through the NOFM program), in the French language (through our Montfort Unit), in numerous urban and rural community sites and at two large Family Medicine teaching centres affiliated with the Ottawa Hospital.
