Dr. Louise A. Laramée appointed interim, Assistant Dean, Student Affairs

The Dean of Medicine, Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, and the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education, Dr. Melissa A. Forgie, are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Louise Laramée as the interim Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Laramée received her medical degree from the University of Montréal. Following her specialty training in Internal Medicine and in Cardiology in Ottawa, she completed a Fellowship in Coronary Angioplasty and Acute Intervention in Myocardial Infarction at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. She then joined the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute where she continues to work in Interventional Cardiology.
Dr. Laramée is passionate about her involvement with medical students and is very involved in planning and teaching clinical skills in the undergraduate curriculum. She is very proud of her recent nomination to the Distinguished Teacher Program at the University of Ottawa and is a recipient of the 2011 Merit Award of the Canadian Association of Medical Education. Her academic interests include medical education, health promotion and advocacy, and women's heart health. She has served on numerous committees serving these interests as well as a member on examination boards.
She began fulfilling the role on June 01, 2011.
The respective Boards of the institution are expected to give final approval for this nomination shortly.
