The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Paul Hendry, who has assumed the role of Assistant Dean, Continuing Medical Education.
Paul Hendry received his MD degree from the University of Ottawa then completed his residency training in General Surgery, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the University of Ottawa. During that time he also completed an MSc in Physiology and then went to Duke University for a Research Fellowship. He joined the Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and is now a Full Professor in the Division of Cardiac Surgery.
His clinical interests have been with the surgical treatment of heart failure and arrhythmias with clinical and basic research focussed on mechanical circulatory assist devices. He has been involved with continuing medical education for almost two decades having served on a variety of University, specialty society and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeon of Canada education committees. He has also been involved with the organization of numerous CME courses and scientific meetings.
He is looking forward to promoting CME activities within the Faculty, TOH and Champlain LHIN.
